From humble beginnings to a recognised name in the eye care field, Eye Care Optometrists has been a trusted partner in vision health for over three decades. Originally founded in 1993 as Wedanda Opticians by Senior Optometrist Kamal Wedanda, our journey started with a simple yet powerful vision: to offer exceptional optical services that enhance the quality of life for our community.

Originally founded in 1993 as Wedanda Opticians by Senior Optometrist Kamal Wedanda, our journey started with a simple yet powerful vision: to offer exceptional optical services that enhance the quality of life for our community.
Three Decades of care and growth
Our story is one of evolution, not just in name but in our reach and dedication to excellence. Over the years, we’ve grown alongside our loyal customers, relocating several times to serve them better. From our early days near the Kurunegala General Hospital, Kurunegala Bus Stand, and Bauddaloka Mawatha to our current landmark location at No. 07, South Circular Road, Kurunegala. We have remained committed to providing the highest standards of eye care.
In response to our expanding clientele and advancements in the optical industry, we rebranded from Wedanda Opticians to Wedanda Eye Care and finally to Eye Care Optometrists. This name better reflects our expertise and a broad range of services. In 2019, we reached a significant milestone by becoming a private limited company, solidifying our commitment to continued growth and service excellence.

Expansion and Innovation
With a solid foundation in Kurunegala, we expanded our footprint in 2020 to Nikaweratiya Town, followed by our newest branch in Wariyapola Town in 2023. These expansions are a testament to our unwavering dedication to making high-quality eye care accessible across the region.
Recognising the need to bring eye care directly to those who may not be able to visit our clinics, we launched mobile eye clinics in 2019. Our mobile services have helped us reach more patients, providing comprehensive eye exams and optical services right at their doorstep.
